“Design and build a vehicle capable of travelling down a ramp and colliding with a barrier to launch a Blue Jay glider over an obstacle, across the Great Hall, and into the fireplace on the east side of the room.”

Approach

After multiple rounds of design and testing, the approach chosen was to use torque from the axle to wind up the launcher mechanism which would when then store up this energy and release into the glider upon impact. Seen below:
